G.O.A.T.S

The Men's Shed was actively promoted at the Going Off At The Swamp festival at Koala Park in front of Lake Munmorah Power Station.

The San Remo Community Men's Shed set up in a green and white stall with the "Mens Shed" sign displayed to attract the eye of passers by. The stall was also decorated with hand made toys mounted on bright stars to attract attention, a collection of spanners and various hand tools, hand turned rolling pins and the Shed gavel. The gavel proved popular among aspiring young Judge Judy fans.

The stall was manned all day by Keith, Alan & Kim who were kept busy fielding questions about the Shed. How to join the shed, what we do in the shed and what access hours are available were among the many questions during the day.

Mayor Bob Graham dropped by the stall as did councillors Doug Vincent and Lisa Matthews through the day. Glimpses were also seen Mother Goat Jillian flashing past on her electric scooter.

It was a great day to be out amongst a community event promoting the shed and meeting with people interested in the Men's Shed.

Under the awning

Small toolbox meeting under the awning this morning. Good to see a completed shed with a functioning crew. All keen to work at community projects and just as eager to have a brew with their mates and talk about what is important to them.

Benevolent Society

John Roberts of the Men Accessing Resources and Services (MARS) programme with the Benevolent Sciety, addressing issues about men, sheds and services on the Central Coast.

Adrienne O'Brien - Senior Manager Fundraising is the Benevolent Society executive who visited with Keith Bryant - General Manager, Social Initiatives.

On the same day two of the men from Woodberry John and John .. .yes count them thats three in the shed.. they were even outnumbering "georges".

toolbox meeting

Decisions about what goes on in the shed are decided by a toolbox meeting. Nothing mysterious just bunch of chaps sitting around drinking hot beverages, swapping yarns and bending their considerable skills to projects at hand.

Mens Group - The Movie

This Sunday there is a screening of "Men's Group" @ Avoca Theatre. For an interesting 4 minute "making of" the flick click here.

Looks like a not to be missed ... with a Q & A, following the 6.30pm screening, with the director of the flick. All the actors weren't allowed to discuss their characters with the other actors and some free forming allowed a chance for natural antagonistic situations to arise.

A brave, vulnerable and unknown territory for all involved.

Spread the word about the screening.

Bench Bracing

Col was hard at work today finishing up on the lathe bench for Bob. With Keith's able assistance the bench is now braced on either end and strong enough for the most enthusiastic wood turners to work on.

Keith and Mark also crafted the chisel rack to hold the tools in-situ for smooth operation.

A fair bit of team effort went into g
etting this one set up ... well done guys!!

There is always a tale to be told around the morning tea table and Bruce was regaling Keith and Col with a tale this morning while the other shedders were absorbed checking out the Yamaha in the yard.

Bike shed

The San Remo Community Mens Shed was a bike convention this morning .. well thats four bikes I count including the Yamaha and we were one down because George III left his scooter at home this morning.

George I visit

George I made a visit to the shed this morning. He was keen to sit in on the toolbox meeting and offered suggestions on how to improve the conviviality of the shed.

Welcome newcomers and wear a badge, all good ideas to keep us on track. True to his word George was even showing some of your lady visitors around this morning.

Good to see you at the shed George !!
